What Is a Clinical Data Hub?
Clinical data hubs track and store the clinical data elements, which when combined with a patient registry (EMPI), provide a longitudinal patient record. Longitudinal patient records offer a view to a patient’s complete medical history over time. Data for the hub is gathered via Health Level 7 (HL7) events and messages from patient visits, lab orders and results, and admit/discharge/transfer (ADT) events across the healthcare enterprise. The clinical data hub can track a wide range of clinical elements, including medications, allergies, test results, problems, procedures and family history. Doctors and researchers can leverage the clinical data hub to discover cohort patients, candidates for comparative study and treatment patterns that have a history of success.
IMT builds clinical data hubs by leveraging the IBM InfoSphere MDM Clinical Hub platform.
